4 NSW Masonic Club April 2017 DAY 2017 - TUESDAY 25 APRIL ANZAC Day - a day of commemorative reflection and, for the Club, the biggest day of the year. One of the significant and traditional events of the day is the annual ANZAC Day March through the streets of Sydney and, for this long-established tradition, the Club offers a unique contribution - two of our Club Members, Lieutenant Colonel John Moore AM RFD [Club Vice President] and Major Bob Wall are members of the commentary team for the ABC’s TV Coverage. John will also be the Master of Ceremonies for the Annual Dawn Service held in Martin Place. John is a long-term member of the commentary team, having first joined it in the mid-1960s, when he was a regular announcer on both ABC Radio and TV. In recent years he has been the lead-commentator, and Bob is the Army specialist who joined the commentary team 14 years ago. Both John and Bob are members of the Masonic Sub-Branch of the RSL which meets monthly at the Club. For both, it will be a long day; John will arrive at Martin Place about 3.00 am, host the Dawn Service, and then join Bob and the other commentators for the March. These days the commentators are positioned in Hyde Park to catch the March as it moves along Elizabeth Street. Following the March, both John and Bob will join the ANZAC Day lunch at the Club, and then participate in the Club’s Commemorative Service at 3pm. ANZAC Day - a long but very satisfying day, reports John Moore. summer stays Opera Bites returns in 2017 for three magnificent performances in Cellos Grand Dining Room.
